He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ron Mayes and Nelda Mayes; his brother Scott; and his children, Austin, Tyler and Lacy Mayes. He was also cherished by his wife, his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, and all three children, a daughter-in-law and one granddaughter.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Piersall Funeral Directors (733 Butternut St, Abilene, TX 79602). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Southern Hills Church of Christ (3666 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX 79605). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery (3226 FM 89, Buffalo Gap, TX 79508).
In lieu of flowers, Jay listed several nonprofits that he valued. A donation in his memory would be a great honor.
