She was predeceased by: her parents, Baird Placker and Susie Placker; and her husband Floyd James Whalen (Sonny). She is survived by: her children, Andy, Michael (Robin), Jamie (Jane), Linda Wright (Dave), Ronnie, Karen Gibson (David) and Deanna Bredbenner (Derek); and her grandchildren, Kaytlin, Mackenzee, Jason, Joshua, Jonathan, Seth, Sara, Reid, Chase, Cale and Carmen. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and many other friends and family.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home Chapel (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the South Side Baptist Church (1425 S 7th St, Abilene, TX 79602). A burial was held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene (7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601).
