We are sad to announce that on March 5, 2025, at the age of 97, Fran Winkles (Abilene, Texas), born in Frederick, Oklahoma passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Fran Winkles to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her parents, K. C. Moser and Ardis Moser; her siblings, Louise and Duane; her granddaughter Keri Frances Bass; and her son-in-law Jim Lindsey (Dub).

She is survived by: her daughters, Susan Lindsey of Ft. Worth and Sara; her son-in-law Dean Bass of Montgomery; her son Shane Winkles of Abilene; and her grandchildren, Lauri, Melissa, Jamie, Kasey and Kevin. She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Hillcrest Church of Christ (650 E Ambler Ave, Abilene, TX 79601). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.

“In her years at Abilene State School, Fran created, developed and directed activities for people with blindness and mental retardation. Her creative leadership provided countless hours of education, recreation and fun for the people who participated in the program. The program was recognized as a model for the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation.”
