We bid farewell to Ava Owens of Abilene, Texas, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on April 20, 2025 at the age of 89. Ava touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Monroe Chipman, Jr. and Ava May Wood; her brother Jesse M. Chipman, III (Ann); her daughter Donna Kay Owens Nichols; and her grandson Anthony Nichols.
She is survived by: her children, Ralph Wayne Owens (Stephanie) of Austin and Tammy G. Salisbury (Tom) of Tuscola; her grandchildren, Bradley A. Nichols, Nicole R. Allen, Jessica J. Nichols, Jordan M. Owens, Jarrod M. Owens (Alexandra) and Jocelyn M. Owens Midkiff (Luke); her stepgranddaughters, Miranda Hebert (Brent) and Morgan King (Ken); her great grandchildren, Abbigail M. Wood, Hazel Ryan Owens, Landon Maddox Owens and Harper James Owens; her sister-in-law Peggy Clark (Floyd); her nieces and nephews, Michael, Jerry and Matt; and her cousin Nancy Rhodes of Abilene. She is also survived by wives and children.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hamil Family Funeral Home (6449 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX 79606). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hillcrest Church of Christ (650 E Ambler Ave, Abilene, TX 79601). A burial was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Memorial Park (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606).
