She was predeceased by: her parents, David Gowen and Pearl Gowen; her children, Loretta Merkle (David), Dennis McKenzie (Linda) and Don McKenzie (Linda); her siblings, Anna Eastwood, Winnie Henry, Josephine Smith (JB), Dean Holder (Ralph) and Lester Gowen; her siblings-in-law, Charles Patterson and Evelyn Gowen; and her great grandchild CeCe Jeffery.
She is survived by: her daughter Kathy Wilson (Richard) of Frisco, TX; her siblings, Maggie Patterson of Fresno, CA and Dave Gowen (Nancy) of Coeur; her son-in-law David Merkle of Wichita, KS; her granddaughters, Summer Smith (Jeff) of Sulphur Springs, TX, Karen Merkle Kamani (Francisco) of Phoenix, AZ and Jody Merkle of Wichita, KS; and her great grandchildren, Chelsey Fite (Sara), Austin Smith, Jordan Smith (Autumn), Jody Merkle Jr. and Conner Merkle.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Family Center (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Funeral Home Chapel (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606). A burial was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 at the Elmwood Memorial Park (5750 US-277, Abilene, TX 79606).
