He was predeceased by: his parents, H. C. Staten and I. B. Staten (Bomer); his wife Vester Ann Staten; and his siblings, Joe Howard Staten, Mary Ruth Hart and Sue Helen Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Gregory Staten, Jonathan Staten, Eric Staten (Lawanda), Carla Staten and Daphne Reece (Rob); his brothers, Rufus Staten and Ray Staten; and his half-siblings, Jonny Melton (Susan) and Lisa Hess. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
