He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelah Haskel Prater and Opal Winnett Prater; his sister Patricia Spry; and his brother-in-law Boyd Spry. He is survived by: his children, Phillip Prater, II of Murfreesboro and Katherine Prater of Gulf Breeze, FL.; his grandchildren, Peyton Alexandria Holt and Olivia Rea Prater; his close friend Judy Gaither of Murfreesboro; his nephews, Jeff Spry (Tammy) and David Spry; and his cousins, Nelda Pitts, James, Wayne and Ricky Prater.
