He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Marshall and Fannie Smithey; his former wife Shirley Geraldine Vance Smithey; and his siblings, Shirley Marie Smithey, Edith Marie Smithey, Lorine Jacobs, Odell Reynolds, Lucy Flemmings, Helen Jones, Clois Smithey and Barbara Tobin.
He is survived by: his wife June Smithey of Winchester; his children, Jerry Smithey Jr. of Avondale Estates, Georgia, Jeff Smithey (Danyeal) of Concord, Gena Alonso (Tony) of Decherd and Janet Owens (Tim) of Lynchburg; and his siblings, D. W. Smithey, Billy Dean Smithey, Merle Stegall and Lois Jean Jones. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home (401 N Jackson St, Tullahoma, TN 37388). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at the Franklin Memorial Gardens (Cowan Hwy, Winchester, TN 37398).
