He was predeceased by: his sister Louvica. He is survived by: his wife Ina Carolyn Paine; his children, Jennifer Michael (Jim Pappas) of Sewanee and Nathan (Sylvia) of New York City; and his grandsons, Jamie Pappas of Sewanee and Llewelyn Davis of New York.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Mississippi chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
