Steven Lee Spencer Obituary
Steven Lee Spencer, age 62, of Wildersville, TN died Jan 3, 2022. Steven was born November 6, 1959 in Grand Haven, MI to Clyde and Louise Spencer. Steven was the youngest of five children: Sharon, Beverly, Richard and Ron.
In 1976 he moved to Grand Ledge, Michigan to live with his sister Sharon, attending Grand Ledge Academy and graduating in 1978. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Central Florida in 1982 with a Baccalaureate Degree in Economics and Finance. He worked many of the summers and school vacations for his brother Richard helping in his contracting business. At the age of 18 he attained to the position of foreman for his first house.
Steven began working for UPS while in college, and then in the summer of 1982, he married Tanna Besch. Six years later they began their family, having four children--Joshua, Kelsie, Charity and Caleb.
In 1995, Steven and Tanna moved from Florida to Washington state. Two and a half years later, they moved to Wildersville, Tennessee where he began working with troubled boys in a rehabilitation center. Following his counseling position, he began driving truck cross-country. In 2003, Steven and Josh spent 2 years learning the contracting business with Richard in Grand Haven Michigan. Returning to Tennessee, they started Spencer and Son's Construction which is still in operation today.
Tragically, he lost his wife of 27 years, Tanna, to cancer in 2009.
In addition to his four much-loved children, Steven was always surrounded by many kids, whom he called "his own.". The gatherings of family and friends included sporting events, family cookouts, traveling, gardening, and golfing excursions to name a few. Steven was always looking forward to memories being made.
On Feb 13, 2016, Steven married Sharene. In addition to spending many happy times with all the kids and grandchildren in their home, they enjoyed Harley rides, hockey games, gardening and traveling to destinations such as Hawaii and family vacations.
He is survived by many loving family members including his wife, Sharene Spencer; children, Joshua Spencer (Rachel), Kelsie Spencer (Jonathan), Charity Caughey (Jordan), and Caleb Spencer (Sydney); grandchildren, Kaylie, Laine, Michael, Isabel, Hope, Weston, and Jesse; stepdaughters, Leilana and Michelle Boykin; siblings, Sharon Spencer Hall (Bryan), Beverly Spencer James (Owen), Richard Spencer (Evelyn), and Ronald Spencer (Jackie); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Tanna Spencer, he is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Louise Spencer; and nephews, Chuck Creasy and Paul Spencer.
