He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Kilgore of Whitwell; his children, Jamey Mae McDaniel (Richard) of Gruetli Laager and James Houston Kilgore of Whitwell; his grandchildren, Stefanie Salter (Jacob), Richard "Cecil" McDaniel (Tayla), Gregory McDaniel (Alexis), Marcy McDaniel, Austin Blake Kilgore, Tyler Kilgore and Kiley "Lucy" Kilgore; his great grandchild Hermione McDaniel; his siblings, Devota Kilgore (Richard) of Whitwell, Richard "Dick" Kilgore, Arnold "Rooster" Kilgore (Estell), Ricky Allen Kilgore (Sue), Jack Kilgore and Ronald Ray Kilgore (Jenny); and his cousin Stanley Cookston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
