He was predeceased by: his former wife Rebecca Marvena Dykes; his parents, Carl Dykes and Ruby Dykes; and his siblings, Eddie Payne and Susan Walters.
He is survived by: his son Stacey Dykes (Tonia) of Whitwell, TN; his brother Jerry Payne of Georgia; his granddaughter Madison Dykes; and his close friend Bill Henry. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
