It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James C. Layne of Whitwell, Tennessee, who passed away on August 4, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Hamp and Ether Slatton Layne; his grandson Michael Shane Griffith; and his brother Albert Layne. He is survived by: his wife Ida Lee Floyd Layne; his children, Jessie Griffth of Whitwell, Scottie Layne (Sherri) of Whitwell, Judy Atterton of Whitwell, Keyonia Morrison of Whitwell, Maddux Henry of Whitwell, Stefan Carter of Whitwell, Desiree Carter of Whitwell, Lance Layne and Norma Henry of Spencer; his stepdaughter Brook Hopkins of Spencer; his grandchildren, Nekia Griffth (TJ), Tristan Layne (Gabrielle), Dylan Layne, Ryleah Layne, Roger Atterton, Ricky Atterton, Raven Atterton, Richard Atterton, Michaela Henry and Byron Henry; and his sisters, Patsy Carter (Steve), Agnes Turner (Mike) and Annalou Myers. He is also survived by 24 great grandchildren.
