He is survived by: his children, David Battle, Tony Springs, Geraldine Springs and Tanya "Niecy" Pickett; his brother Jimmy Kelly (Verta); and his cousins, Mabel Reid, Marva Westmoreland, Peggy Martin and Alice Officer. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren.
