He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Lee and Rosie Slater; his grandson Donnie Lee Hankins; and his brother Leroy Slater, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Aileen Loudermilk Slater; his daughter Phyllis Reeves (Randall) of Whitwell; his stepson Joseph Starr (Mary) of Tullahoma; his sister Sarah Olene Hendricks of Rossville; his grandchildren, Adam (Christy), Ryan (Beth), Steven (Amanda), Travis (Rebecca) and Shelley (Jonathan); his great grandchildren, Sarah (Justin), Hanna, Donovan, Ben Paige, Evan, Noah, Eli, Ethan, Gavin, Caroline and Julia; and his great great grandchild Jaxon of Grayson, Bowen.
