It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Patti Smith of Whitleyville, Tennessee, born in Hilham, Tennessee, who passed away on July 22, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Malcolm Hawkins and Lena Hawkins (Maxwell); and her siblings, William, Jackie, Ray Hawkins, Ada Jean, Thelma Jean and Dean Hawkins.
She is survived by: her husband Richard M. Smith; her son Richard Douglas Smith (Laura) of Carlisle, PA; her grandchildren, Christian G. Smith and Aleksandra M. Smith; and her siblings, Linda Long (Roger) and Jimmy Hawkins of Cookeville. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050, with notation "In memory of Patti Smith, Donor Number: 48297080.".
