He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Watkins Powell, Jr. and Enid Louise Wilson Powell; his grandparents, Thomas Watkins Powell, Sr., Mary Rives Powell, Wesley Wilson, Jr. and Olive Purdue Wilson; his aunts, Minnie McRae Miller (Roots Miller), June Wilson Hough and Esther Wilson White; his uncle Dr. David Wilson (Janet Webb Wilson); his brother-in-law Rex Norville; and his cousins, Ida Faye Hough Jenks and Dr. Dorcas Hough.

He is survived by: his wife Dorrie Powell; and his siblings, Peggy Ann Norville, Mary Olive Dalglish, Alice McClanahan (Edward) and Thomas L. Powell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
