He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Nessie Helton and Nancy Jane Helton (Dyer); his wife Juanita Carpenter Helton; and his siblings, Dean Helton (Nellie), Kate Smith (Dan), Gaines Helton (Bobbie), Elizabeth Smith (Roosevelt), Ruby Sanders (Paul), Maurice Helton (Alma Ruth) and Ralph Helton.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Helton (Deirdre) and Nancy Setsor (Darryl); his grandson Matthew Setsor; his stepgrandson Christopher Vassar (Sonya); his stepgreat-granddaughter Brianna Vassar; and his sister-in-law Betty Jo Helton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
