He is survived by: his children, Lester Homer Lawson, Jr. and Paula Carson (Michael); his grandchildren, Joseph Lyons (Rebekah), James Lyons, Jessica Lyons, Preston Carson, Michael Carson, Jr., Angela Saunders (Donnie), Elizabeth Lawson and Bobby Brooks; his great grandchildren, Elijah Edwards, Shirley Carson and Charlie Carson; and his siblings, Norman Lawson, Ronald Lawson, Elmer Lawson, Frank Lawson (Fannie), Hazel Yount and Vada Knight (Bill). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
