He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Clinton and Julia Bell Murphey Couts, Jr.; and his brother Joe Clinton Couts, III. He is survived by: his wife Rebekah "Becky" Jan Haltom Couts of Whites Creek; his sons, Joshua John Couts and Rocco Daniel Dominic Couts; and his siblings, Gary Edward Couts (Dottie), William "Bill" Porter Couts (Sandra), Marilyn Lee (Ken), Carolyn Mitchell (Larry) and Joanne Eden (Terry).
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the International Missions Board, SBC. All donations may be sent in care of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home.
