He was predeceased by: his parents, Reba Northern and Jack Cate; his daughter Barbara Jean Cate; his brothers, Lon Franklin and Robert Franklin; and his sons-in-law, Jimmy Wilson and George Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Vennis Cate; his daughters, Mary Ann Wilson and Sharon "Sis" Davis; his grandchildren, Crystal Smith Coats, Tina Wilson (Jamie Carr) and Vanessa Davis-Buckner (Chris); his great grandchildren, Brayden Sutton, Jadyn "Jade" Coats and Elijah Briggs; and his sister Lois McCoig (Garland). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
