He is survived by: his wife Deana Joy Garland; his children, Felicia Garland and George William Garland (Danielle); his son-in-law Keith Neubecker; his grandchildren, Dale Lyndon Garland (Shelly), Alexandria Hardin, Britney Neubecker, Mindy Moore (Jason), Leah Wadsworth (Tyler), Anna Garland, Samuel Garland, Jonathan York and Nathaniel York; his great grandchildren, Vivian Garland, Lilly Garland, Lyric Garland, Emily Garland, Spender Hardin and Bianca Garland; and his sisters, Shirley Sammons and Francis Pinson (Perry).

In lieu of flowers, George requested memorial donations to be made to Boys Town.
