He was predeceased by: his son David Vinson Askew; his former wife Betty L. Gibbons Askew; his parents, George Askew and Verna Askew; his brothers, Jeffery Askew and Danny Ray Askew; and his brother-in-law Steve Keller.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Askew; his sons, Jonathan Askew (Melanie) of Newport, Justin Reed of White Pine and Jeremy Reed of White Pine; his grandsons, Cole Askew of Newport and Jeremiah Askew of White Pine; and his siblings, Darnell Shelton (Bobby) of Newport, Nancy Rice (Ron) of Newport, Karen Keller of Newport, Kay Myers (Bob Weishaupt) of Dandridge and Thomas Askew of Newport. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
