He was predeceased by : his wife Rose Lee Smith Byrd; his parents, George Byrd and Tennie Roberts Byrd; and his siblings, Carl Byrd, Gean Franklin, Thelma Alsup, Nell Fowler, Ardie Byrd and Clara Lee.

He is survived by : his children, James "Bubba" Byrd (Loretta), Wayne Byrd Westpoint, Brenda and Jennifer; his brothers, John Byrd Westpoint and Ray Byrd Westpoint; his grandchildren, Jason Holloway, Chip Shriver, Emilee McDow and Brock Flesher; and his great grandchildren, Katy, Kelsey, Abbey, Barrett and Ace.
