He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvis Lindley and Molly Lois Tharp Choate; his wife Mattie Louise; his daughter Lana Kay Orton; his grandson Ernest Mark Orton; and his siblings, Ralph Choate, Betty Choate Frith and Jerry Webb.
He is survived by: his granddaughters, Karen Orton of Lawrenceburg, Susan Orton of Lawrenceburg and Diana Orton of Lawrenceburg; his great grandchildren, Evan Goolsby (Tara), Jessie Orton and Eric Goolsby (Karley); his great great grandchildren, Xialynn Goolsby and Ledger Goolsby; and his nephew Mike Webb (Samantha) of Hohenwald. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
