He was predeceased by: his parents, John Al Buchanan, Sr. and Mary Eliga Scott Buchanan; his wife Martha Gene Woodard Buchanan; and his siblings, John Al Buchanan, Jr., Howard "Kick" Buchanan, William "Buddy" Buchanan, Lou Wade and Martha Joy Jones.
He is survived by: his children, Chris Buchanan of Waverly, TN and Debbie Marrs of Waverly, TN.; his sister Margaret "Peg" Scott of Waverly, TN.; his grandchildren, Jennifer Tyner (Shawn) and Hayden Buchanan (Kinley Spann); his great grandchildren, Aaliyah Flynn and Bella Tyner; and his granddaughters, Missy Nichols (Chris), Amanda Mealer and Mary Beth Ward.
