We are sad to announce that on January 17, 2025, at the age of 77, Frank Arvil Mathews Sr. of Waverly, Tennessee, born in Warren, Michigan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thomas Mathews, Sr. and Edna Mae Shaver Mathews. He is survived by: his children, Frank "Mat" Mathews, Jr. (Diane) of Hurricane Mills, TN and Angel Mathews Rickard (Jeff) of Christina, TN.; his sister Lois Carson of McEwen, TN.; his sister-in-law Peggy Ogle of Dickson, TN.; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Robert Rickard, Jr. (Shelby), Derrian Rickard Wilsford (Nathan), Frank "Trey" Mathews, III and Annsley Mathews; his great grandchildren, Hank, Cruz, Tripp and Alice; his wife Patricia "Pat" Stewart Mathews; his siblings, Tommy Mathews (LeNell), Richard Mathews (Dean), Wally Mathews, Donnie Mathews (Lilly), Iona Hams (Ray), Vera Hartsell (Bud), Betty Harvey (Mel), Edith Bullington (Floyd) and Pauline Brown (Gene); and his brothers-in-law, Kit Carson and Tommy Stewart (Oralee).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Humphreys County Funeral Home (217 E Main St, Waverly, TN 37185). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
Buddy Mathews will be remembered as a devoted individual whose contributions to his family, friends, and community will resonate for years to come.
