It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ireta Frances Davis Gurley of Watauga, Tennessee, who passed away on November 4, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Otis Brunk and Frances Bane Brunk; her former husband Claude Davis; her husband Charles Gurley; her children, Lisa Davis and Michael Davis; her grandson Brandon Scalf; and her siblings, Clarence Brunk, Norman Brunk, William Brunk and Joyce Brunk.
She is survived by: her children, Angie Davis of Johnson City, TN, Alexis Davis (Adrian Hopson) of Watauga, TN, Linda Scalf of Watauga, TN, Debbie Davis (Jesse Ambrose) of Watauga, TN, Naomi Runyon (Joey) of Watauga, TN, Kenny Davis (Karen) of Watauga, TN, Timmy Davis (Shannon) of Watauga, TN, Claude Davis Jr. of Watauga, TN and Charles Gurley (Jasmine) of Watauga, TN; and her siblings, Steve Brunk, Danny Brunk, Gary Brunk, Paulette Lewis, Patricia Runyon, Betty Garrett and Linda Runyon. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County and Washington County are mandating that all citizens who live in or visit the counties wear masks in public. In keeping in accordance with this mandate, all visitors to the funeral home and/or the graveside are required to wear a mask or facial covering and observe social distancing recommendations.
