He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lester and Vernon Jewel Humphrey Swindell; and his siblings, Earl Swindell and Mildred Alcorn. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Eller Swindell; his daughter Lynn Swindell Jones; his grandchildren, Amber Cantrell and Peyton Wallace; his great grandchild Sterling Paige; and his brother-in-law Michael Eller (Sherolyn).
