He was predeceased by: his parents, James William Nichols, Jr. and Mary Jane Stephens Nichols; his siblings, Norma Taylor and Stanley Nichols; and his niece Kelli Konley.
He is survived by: his sister Elizabeth Burchell of Vonore; his brother-in-law Richard Taylor of Illinois; his niece Kimberly Konley of Vonore; and his caregiver Brenda Holland. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorials may be made to East Tennessee Children's Hospital or St. Jude Research Hospital.
