He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Minnie Shockley Mayes; and his siblings, Mary Russell and Jim Mayes (Delma). He is survived by: his wife Rita Joyce Mayes of Unionville, TN; his children, Tonya Bugg (Jim) of Michigan, Jerry Mayes (Dana) of Nashville, TN, Keith Mayes (Anita) of Ohio and Kenny Mayes (Connie) of Watertown, TN; and his siblings, Thelma DeLong of Spencer, TN, Dorothy Wilson (John David) of Sparta, TN and Lonnie Mayes (Lynette) of Spencer, TN. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren.
