She was predeceased by: her parents, W. L. James and Sue Etta James (Barton); her husband Evan Flippen; and her siblings, Lovie Cole, Johnny James, Bryant James, Jack James, Raymond James and Leroy James.

She is survived by: her son Billy Flippen of Union City. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
