He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Gynelle Pierson (Vaughn); and his son Kevin Darnall "Rug" Pierson. He is survived by: his spouse Phyllis Elveida Pierson August (Hughes); his daughters, Krystal McClanahan (Don) of Fulton, Karla Fields (Tony) of Hickman and Melissa Logan (Roy); his brother John Allen Pierson (Leslie) of Vero Beach, Florida; and his grandchildren, Brock McClanahan, Justin McClanahan (Mindy), Kasie McClanahan, Kodie Fikter (Jason), Caleb Fields, Shaw Logan, Anna Logan and Reed Logan.
