He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Phillips and Pearl Porche Phillips; and his siblings, Dale Phillips, Kate Frye, Lola English, Meg Harris, Valaria Bailey, Ruby Metcalf and Bernice Phillips.
He is survived by: his wife Louella Rice Phillips; his sons, Mike Phillips (Linda), Erwin, Brad Phillips (Amy) and Knoxville; and his grandson Adam Phillips. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in memory of Rob to: Ninth Street Baptist Church Building/Improvements Fund, 301 Ninth Street, Erwin, TN 37650.
