She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph "Jay" and Nancy Nelson Smith; and her husband Tom Adkins. She is survived by: her children, Joe Adkins (Zinnia), Henry Smith, Piney Flats and Ann Kinsland of Shady Valley; and her brothers, Alf Smith (Pansy) of Jonesborough and Earl Smith (Thea) of Jonesborough. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
