He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Peterson and Idella Miller Peterson; and his brothers, Garfa and Jack Peterson. He is survived by: his spouse Bobbie Huskins Peterson; his children, Amy Banks (Tracy) and Michael Peterson (Misty); his grandchildren, Kayla Perea (Buddy), Derrick Peterson, Taylor Banks, Bryson, Brock and Cade Peterson; his great grandchildren, Braylen Perea and Maddy Perea; his siblings, Harvey Peterson (Ernestine), F. C. Peterson and Emmaline Miller; his siblings-in-law, Linda, Bob Sproles, Betty and Dorothy Peterson; and his close friends, Scott and Marsha Street. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
