She was predeceased by: her parents, John Lawrence Byrd, Sr. and Velva Willis Byrd; and her brother John "J. L.". She is survived by: her siblings, Robbie Byrd, Harold Byrd (Mae Bell) of Flag Pond, Bertha Byrd of Erwin, Olga Edwards of Erwin and Joan King (James) of Jonesborough. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
