He was predeceased by: his parents, T. L. Garland and Mary Garland; his wife Helen Gouge Garland; and his siblings, Lee, Fletcher, Claude Garland and Thelma Hoilman.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael E. Garland (Melanie) and Daniel R. Garland; and his sister-in-law Irene Garland of Bakersville, NC..
Due to the Covid-pandemic, everyone is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter.
