He was predeceased by: his parents, Vester Smith and Myrtle Campbell Smith; his stepson Matthew Hodges; and his siblings, Lloyd Smith, Floyd Smith and Deloris Papantoniou.
He is survived by: his wife Dimple B. Smith; and his siblings, Jackie Smith (Paulette) of Petersburg, MI, Joyce Milan of Ida, MI and Geraldine Burrow of Elizabethton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
