She was predeceased by: her parents, Maggie Lee and Willie James Benson; her husband Michael Starr Sr.; her sisters, Priscilla, Sally, Jeanette and Marilyn; and her siblings-in-law, Charlsie Wright Horne, Donald Starr Sr. and Glenda Boyd.
She is survived by: her children, Audrey Vanzant (Mark), Michael Starr, Jr. (TaShonna) and Charice Starr (Bud Ries); her grandchildren, Joshua, Allen, Micah, Alissa and Jaden; and her siblings, Jimmy Benson (Ava), Miranda Benson and Joyce Jackson (Carl). She is also survived by grandchild she nicknamed "BC"; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the J. A. Welton & Son Funeral Home (715 S Jackson St, Tullahoma, TN 37388). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Fellowship Baptist Church (807 Ave C, Gadsden, AL 35901).
