He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Harbard Nicks, Sr. and Virginia N. Bradshaw Nicks. He is survived by: his children, Jonathan Nicks (Tammy) of Milan, Tennessee, Sharon Eddlemon (Keith) of Trenton, Brandie Worrell of Trenton and Julie Weber of Yorkville, Tennessee; and his siblings, George Dodson Owens of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Dossie Lou Heinz of Memphis. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
