He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Carlos Dew and Kate Smith Dew of Trenton; his wife Dorinda Rathbone Dew; and his children, Dorinda Dew Whitsett of Cincinnati, Carlos Dew, III of Newport, Katherine Dew Floyd of Cary, Henry Rathbone Dew of Portland and Ann Angell Dew Roush of Weare. He was also cherished by children and eight great grandchildren.
