He was predeceased by: his parents, Edd Layne and Mary Beulah Layne; and his siblings, Renice Curtis, Lewis Layne and Grady Layne.

He is survived by: his wife Kaye Layne; his children, Lisa Clements (Jeff) and Scott Layne (Cassandra); his siblings, Ronnie Layne (Shirley), Donnie Layne and Doris Guyear; and his grandchildren, Brittany, Jake, JoLeigh, Kristen, Devan and Jacob. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
