He was predeceased by: his father Vernon Smartt; his stepfather Bill Smartt; his grandparents, Columbus and Katherine Trazi; and his sister Kathy Fredrick.
He is survived by: his mother Janice Smartt; his wife Dee Dee Smart; his daughter April Dykes (Ethan); his siblings, Michael Smartt, Renee Reid (Ricky McDaniel) and Fonda Geary; and his grandson William Dykes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
