He was predeceased by: his parents, Deroy Eddings and Jessie Lou Hunt Eddings; his son Robert Slaughter; and his siblings, Sharon Bell, Betty Ann Hunt, Mary Lou Hunt and Allen Ray Staggs.

He is survived by: his sisters, Annie Neace of Dyersburg, Karon Burns of Ridgely and Joyce Jean Cross of Covington; and his cousin Roger Lunsford (Betty) of Humboldt.
