He was predeceased by: his son Paul; his parents, Floyd Phillips and Janice Phillips of Fall Branch; his uncle Evans; and his brother-in-law Paul Fritts.

He is survived by: his son Patrick; his wife Patti Bailey Phillips; and his brother Keith Phillips of Kingsport.
