He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel E. Rankin and Cynthia A. Clarke; his stepfather Stephen Hanauer; his former wife Alexandra Meeks Rankin; his uncle Louie Rankin; and his stepbrother David Hanauer.
He is survived by: his children, Leah F. Rankin of Seattle, WA and Lindsay A. Rankin of St. Cloud, MN; his siblings, Laura A. Rankin (Dexter Hamlett) of Annapolis, MD and Daniel E. Rankin, Jr. of Knoxville, TN; his stepsisters, Louise Hanauer of San Diego, CA, Judy Evans of Oxford, OH and Nancy Hatfield of Cincinnati, OH; his stepmother Patricia Roberts Rankin of Knoxville, TN; his pets, Daisy and Bella; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Adrian and Emily Kate Lane of Maryville, TN; and his nieces and nephews, Carmen and Benjamin Hamlett of Annapolis, MD. He is also survived by eight other nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Claiborne-Overholt. A funeral service was held on Friday, April 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery (1916 Martin Luther King Jr Ave, Knoxville, TN 37915).
