He was predeceased by: his son Terrell Vance; his granddaughter Ayona Hickson; his mother Mabelle Vance; his brother Steve Vance; and his mother-in-law Wilma Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Smith Vance; his daughter Bridget Vance Hickson; his grandchildren, Collyn Chapman and Samuel Vance-Hickson; his father Jess Vance; and his siblings-in-law, David Smith (Robin), Judy Smith and Jim Smith (Phyllis). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
