He was predeceased by: his parents, O. D. Carmichael and Pearl Thomas Carmichael; and his siblings, Dale E. Carmichael and Evelyn F. Breeden. He is survived by: his wife Gereldean B. Carmichael; his brother George "Buck" Carmichael; his children, James E. Carmichael (Bonnie) and Debbi Finchum (Steve); his grandchildren, Angel Eden (Eddie), Amber Driggs (Ryan), Joshua Finchum, Lilli Eckenrod and Jessica Eckenrod Tesia Rice; his great grandchildren, Nicholas Liveri (Lyndsy Greenlee), Xavier King (Emily Hunt), Addilyn and Rylee Driggs; his nephew Buddy Carmichael; and his niece Jeanie Miller (David).
