He is survived by: his parent Elma Mathis Mathews; his daughter Connie Mathews McMinn (Bobby) of Leicester, NC; his adoptive children, Brandon Mathews and Lacey Mathews of Asheville, NC; and his siblings, Mazie Bentley of Westwood, CA, Lydia Mathis of Sylva, NC and Clinton Mathews of Sylva, NC.
